Macau

Sharing a few photos from my last visit to Macau, some of the famous tourist spots: Ruins of St. Paul's, Monte Forte,Largo de Senado and Casas Museu de Taipa. Macau is known for their casinos and other entertainment, but I much prefer their historic landmarks with portuguese influences and their local cuisines.

Last but not least, I highly recommend the portuguese egg tarts from Lord Stow's Bakery located in the Venetian Canal Shops, They are the best egg tarts I have ever tried.

Singapore series- Food, Food, Food!

By the time I remember to take pictures of my food for the blog, I'm usually half way through devouring my meal. DANG IT!!!So I apologize, there will not to a lot of photos here.
I still thought it might be helpful to share with you some of my favorite places to eat in Singapore.

Paradise Dynasty- This restaurant makes the cutest colorful Xiao long boa (shanghai dumpling) I've ever had. Each color dumpling has a different flavor : original, foie gras, cheesy, sichuan, garlic, crab etc. Each flavor was delicious and interesting.

Fika- I wondered into this cute scandinavian cafe when i went to the Millennia Walk that i mentioned in this previous post. Since it was a cafe, I didn't have high expectation for their entrée. The minestrone soup and the crawfish pasta was surprisingly very good! They were so flavorful but not too heavy or salty.

Some of my favorite Japanese restaurants were:
Itacho Sushi- This franchise restaurant is popular in many parts of the world, their sushi is amazingly fresh!
Koh Grill & Sushi Bar- This place serves my favorite salmon soup and Bento boxes for great prices!

** These two place tends to have a huge queue, so you may want to make reservation or avoid going on  the weekends.

Other areas to check out with great restaurants:
Holland village
Bugis (Across from Bugis Junction)
Chinatown

Last but not least, don't forget to try some food in hawker centers or food courts, they tend to have the best food at the best prices.

Melbourne, Australia

A little interruption of the Singapore series, we are in Melbourne, Australia! Sadly, I did not have enough time in Melbourne to really explore since I was there for work. Just thought I'd share some pictures with you.

One of the Universities ...beautiful building.

Along the coast on by the Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia.

The Twelve Apostles

A random Arcade we went in ( I learned that Arcade means a sort of shopping center, not where kids go and play in the U.S.)

Wesley Church

Sorry if there are any vegetarians reading this but this was the Best lobster I've ever had!
If you like seafood you have to come to this restaurant Shark Fin House (The Chinese name is 食為先)

Not the best picture quality towards the end, just instagram-ing, you know how it is.=)

Singapore Series: Vintage shops

One of my favorite things to do on a free day is to check out a thrift store or vintage shop. I get so thrilled when I find something in a fraction of the original price or an item that is beautiful with a unique history.

Since I have enough time here in Singapore, I had to check out these vintage shop and share with y'all!

1) Granny's Day Out -  I keep mistakenly calling this store "Granny's night out" ha. Check out their Facebook Page.

2) De Ja Vu- This vintage shop is located inside the Millenia Walk which I mentioned in my last post. the shop was a mixture of vintage clothing, bags, jewelry and independent designer jewelry pieces. Check out their website for more information.

3) Dust Bunny- This vintage shop started out only selling handbags and has now expended to a large selection of vintage items. It might be hard to find if you have never been in the area, check out their facebook page for more information.

I loved these flamed boots, too bad they were way to big.

World Savage- This vintage shop was definitely my favorite in Singapore. The atmosphere in the store was captivating, the owners/staffs were friendly and the vintage jewelry had me at hello. The owner of the shop is a collector of charms, which explains why the selection of vintage jewelry is so exquisite and rare. There is a necklace that I cannot stop thinking about ever since I visited the shop, it is a beautiful, dainty vintage locket with a functional compass inside. I am sure if I step foot into that shop again, I will not be able to control myself. I also purchased a gift for a loved one that I will share with you after it has been gifted =) Check out their facebook page.

I fell in love with this beautiful vintage photo album.

Besides vintage goods, they also hand-make these copper necklaces with customized writings on them.

They had a great selection of vintage men shirts and vintage dresses in great conditions.

There are many thrift stores in Singapore, so I went to one of the salvation army and these are the things I thrifted.
- a Moschino denim shirt (not sure about the authenticity).
- 3 random books to accompany me on my journey
- knitted camouflage pencil skirt.

Overall, the Singaporean culture of vintage and second hand stores is still not as developed and popular as it is in other countries. They get most of their items abroad which makes their prices a little higher. But I fell in love with some of the shops and will definitely visit again!

I'd love to hear about your favorite vintage/thrift store, comment below!
